Request the document you actually need
Explain whether you are verifying company registration, membership, supplier assessment, a material claim, or a product requirement. These are different questions and may need different evidence. A company document does not automatically establish that a particular product meets an importing market’s requirements.
Check identity, scope, and validity
Review the issuing body, named company, address, issue and expiry dates where applicable, and the activities or products covered. Ask for clarification where details do not match the order being discussed. Keep the document with the supplier review record and confirm whether it remains current when you place a later order.
Discuss specialist product evidence early
Some products, materials, and uses require product-specific testing or other documentation. Identify those needs before approving the specification. Ask who arranges testing, which version of the product is tested, and what costs or lead times apply. Do not treat a general category description as a certification claim.
