DEVELOPMENT / 01Explain the item without relying on a category name
Introduce the product in plain language: who uses it, what it does, how it is handled, and what makes it different. Add photographs, drawings, or a short written sequence showing its use. If the idea is at an early stage, identify the decisions already made and the areas where you need feasibility or development input.
DEVELOPMENT / 02Break the design into components
List the body, lining or internal layers, closures, straps, panels, trims, labels, and any other parts. Describe how they are joined and which dimensions control the assembly. An unfamiliar item becomes easier to review when its construction is visible. Mark details that affect function, material choice, or the order in which it must be assembled.
DEVELOPMENT / 03Define the boundaries of the sample
Agree on what the first sample is intended to prove. It may focus on shape, dimensions, materials, assembly, artwork, or a particular interaction. Record temporary components and open decisions so a development sample is not mistaken for a finished production reference. Consolidate feedback into a clear revision list with measured comments and photographs.
DEVELOPMENT / 04Identify special requirements early
If the item needs a defined load, protection, food-contact, technical, destination, or other special requirement, state it before development. Discuss whether the product can be supplied and which evidence or specialist work is needed. A visually similar reference or a broad category on the website does not establish feasibility or performance for a new item.
DEVELOPMENT / 05Turn the approved concept into an order
Once the product is defined, record the final materials, dimensions, construction, artwork, components, sample approval, and packing. Break quantities into versions and sizes where relevant. Confirm development and setup charges, minimums, prices, schedule, inspection, and shipment responsibilities. Keep the approved references so changes and repeat enquiries can be discussed accurately.
